MD-MM Produce developed the MDB-ELITE/S under Quest International. This example was made in Japan in 2015, a date supported by the original Quest International certificate and Japanese store paperwork that come with it. Available documentation notes that the “/S” suffix belongs to the model designation; it does not indicate a short-scale bass.
This is a four-string, 34-inch-scale instrument with passive electronics and a pair of humbuckers. Rather than following a conventional Fender-style recipe, the MDB-ELITE/S has its own more modern and controlled response. The available sound notes point to focused, even notes across the neck, a quick attack and a naturally compressed feel. Its low end is punchy without becoming boomy, with a particularly tight, solid E string.
At approximately 3.8 kg, the bass is comfortable and well balanced, with smoothly operating hardware and tuners. The original certificate and Japanese shop documents give this particular instrument a useful paper trail without needing to make a larger claim about its history.
Inspection & research notes
Inspection notes record a stable neck, correctly functioning truss rod and electronics, and clean, smoothly operating hardware. The bass is in excellent overall condition, with only minimal signs of careful use. Minor setup adjustment may be useful after transport and climate adaptation.
